Potty Training.

My Princess just turned 2 last Tuesday and is starting to show that she is ready to be potty trained. Can some experienced Mom's give me some tips please? We have a potty that she will sit on if she is occupied, we don't want to do the bare bottom method. Someone suggested to me that I put panties on under her diaper so that she can feel when she is wet. Any thing else that I can do?

Also we had our second session of speech therapy yesterday, we are doing it every Wednesday! She likes it which is good and she has said a few words when the SPL (Speech-Language Pathologist) is here but hardly says them when she isn't so were are working on that.

Thanks for any advice in advance.

Speech Therapy.

We had our speech therapy evaluation yesterday. She qualifies for help in one area but not the other. She doesn't need help with understanding and that part of the speech therapy. I forgot what it was called, we had a long day yesterday sorry. But she does need help with the communication part, she needs help with her words, she says like 3 words consistently. We are getting a call back next week to set up our first therapy session. I'm excited maybe my baby will start talking! Then we can do more preschool based things I'm so excited to be able to do that! YAY!

On a side note Cassie will be 2 in less than 2 weeks, where did time go! I swear she was just born.

Today is the day.

Cassie has her speech evaluation today. We are going to the children's therapy center for her evaluation. I'm excited but nervous at the same time. Excited that she might get the help she needs, if she needs it and nervous that she might need help. She has been "talking" all morning so hopefully she will be talkative for the eval.

On a side note, I need to find a good cheap dentist who is open late or on the weekends around Seattle, WA. My tooth started bothering me last night. It would be a sharp pain that brought me to tears then it would dull away then it would come back. I tried Orajel and Ibuprofen last night and neither worked. It eventually became so that I can bear it and sleep. It hasn't happened at all this morning and hope it doesn't but I still need it looked at.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Love bug is sick!

Poor lovebug has a cold. She was supposed to go in for a hearing screening yesterday but she was sick! We have her speech eval on the 22nd hoping that things pan out and that we can get some help for her. I'm not sure she really needs the hearing screening cause she can hear just fine in my opinion.

On a side note she turns 2 in less than a month. Where did time go! I added my blog on a link party so I will try to update more.

Been A While.

I have been meaning to post, but nothing really has been going on. Last week we were busy when the in-laws came to visit Cassie had a great time with them and so did her Mommy and Daddy. Cassie had a weight check yesterday she weighs 21.02 lbs and is 31.75 inches long, we also got referred to get her hearing and speech evaluated to see if she will qualify for speech therapy. The weather has been nice here so we have been outside playing as much as possible so the apartment has been getting neglected.

Dieting so far..

So far it has been hard, the only time I am able to go walk on the tread mill is after Cassie goes to bed at 8pm. The eating part has been kinda tough too because my husband and I don't really eat the healthiest and we cant really afford it, with me being a stay at home mom, we are barely making it. We have been better since Cassie has started eating table foods but there are some things that we could do differently. I have been under my calorie goal but its all the fatty foods that I eat that is messing me up. I went to my sister in laws house on Sunday and weighed myself then and I had lost 2.4 pounds I am super excited about that! We are going there again this weekend so we will see how much I weigh then.

Losing Weight

I am determined to get skinny again and stay there. Since I left high school I have gained a ton of weight and I want it gone! I have joined myfitnesspal.com and so far I am doing good, I've been below my calorie intake although I haven't gone to the gym like I planned I will get this weight off. Once the weather clears up I will go on walks everyday with the little lady and spend more time outside. I am going to be blogging about my weight loss journey (as well as other mommy things), I don't have a scale yet, but the last time I checked my weighed about 10 months ago I was at 197, I weigh about the same as my 6foot boyfriend, I'm 5'5 eek!

My sister-in-law, Kat, is on summer break now and we have been skyping it's nice to see my in-laws again. Yesterday I organized the apartment and got rid of a lot of boxes, most of which we're still put together and empty, so I broke them down and stored them so that we have them when we move in a year. I organized the "laundry room", we keep the extra diapers, wipes, kleenex, paper towels, sheets, blankets, towels and mine and my boyfriends clothes as well as our laundry soap and a few boxes that we get into every  now and then so that everything is more accessible to me. I also vacuumed the entire apartment and cleaned off the bar (it was a mess) hopefully I can get to everything else tomorrow. I dont think Cassie will nap today, I can maybe get the kitchen done when she is awake.

Honey Sesame Chicken

Slow Cooker Honey Sesame Chicken
Recipe adapted from: Baby Center

Ingredients:
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (thighs would be fine too)
Salt and pepper
1 cup honey
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup diced onion
1/4 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons vegetable oil (could also use olive oil or canola oil)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional - doesn't really add heat, just adds more flavor)
4 teaspoons cornstarch dissolved in 6 Tablespoons water
Sesame seeds

Directions:
Season both sides of chicken with lightly with salt and pepper, put into crock pot. In a small bowl, combine honey, soy sauce, onion, ketchup, oil, garlic and pepper flakes. Pour over chicken. Cook on low for 3-4 hours or on high 1 1/2 – 2 1/2 hours, or just until chicken is cooked through. Remove chicken from crock pot, leave sauce. Dissolve 4 teaspoons of cornstarch in 6 tablespoons of water and pour into crock pot. Stir to combine with sauce. Replace lid and cook sauce on high for ten more minutes or until slightly thickened. Cut chicken into bite size pieces, then return to pot and toss with sauce before serving. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve over rice or noodles.

Nutritionist said...

The nutritionist said to keep doing everything that we are doing but she wants Cass to gain 2-3 more pounds by the time she is 2. If she stays the height that she is she will be in the 25% for height to weight. She weighed 20.6 lbs when we went to the nutritionist 5-23, which means she gained 1.3 lbs in a little over 2 weeks! On a side note I have friends visiting in August and I'm super excited I've been trying to find some stuff for us to do when their here.

Sorry for the wait

Cassie and I haven't really been doing anything besides the day to day cleaning and taking care of the house. We have been spending a lot of time outside the weather has been nice and sunny for a while. Today though not so much, its cold and cloudy, so we went the our mommy-and-me group to see Caspar Babypants in concert. He is an amazing singer of children's songs, Cassie had a great time. We have a play date at the house on Monday that we need to get ready for and Cassie is seeing a nutritionist for the first time here in WA on Wednesday. I'm hoping that she can figure out how  I can get Cassie to gain some weight.

Video...

So there's this video of a mom in Malaysia who beats her 8-month old baby girl, she repeatedly hits, pinches, slaps, throws things, kicks and at one point pushed the baby off of her when the baby was trying to be consoled. This video is absolutely horrifying. I got about 2 and a half minutes into the 5 minute video the second time I tried to watch it. In the background, I'm assuming the person video taping the abuse, sounds like their telling the mom to stop, I don't see why they don't do more about it. I cannot imagine doing this to my daughter, I cant even begin to imagine what that poor child felt. In the video you can also see at least 2 other kids in the background watching this happen. In the description of the video it said that the mom was tried for child abuse and got ONLY 18 months in jail. Being a child of various abuses and neglect I say she should get a whole lot more than 18 months. Now Im loving on the little lady telling her that I will not let anything like that happen to her EVER, I know she doesn't understand why Mommy is being so emotional but that video not only brought back memories but also made me realize that I could have had it a whole lot worse that I did.

Last few days

These last few days have been interesting to say the least. Friday we had an appointment in the morning and we were out till basically 12:30 came home for nap and played out on the balcony for a bit. I was hoping to get more accomplished but I felt like poo all day. Saturday Cassie hung out with Daddy so I can rest, I also got my drivers permit so I can get my license really soon! Sunday was the usual grocery shopping, come home and watch the NASCAR race and deep clean the house. Monday we had a doctor appointment for a weight check, she gained about a half a pound in a month, she now weighs 19 lbs 5 oz at 20 months. We got home in time for lunch and nap then we left for a park playdate and got home in time to make dinner. Yesterday we went to the store in the morning and Cassie fell asleep on the bus ride home, we stayed home yesterday because I have been neglecting the house work with all the nice weather. Today we are staying home again and I am cleaning the house once again, and trying to get everything organized and looking good and presentable.

So Slow...

After being out all day yesterday today seems to be going by so slow. Yesterday we got home from out play date at about 1230, Cassie fell asleep at the bus stop so we didn't go to the store. Cassie slept until about 230 in the time I did dishes, folded a load of laundry from the day before and washed and dried a new load, ate lunch and cleaned up a little. After Cassie woke up, since the weather was good, we took a walk to the store and bought a few things for dinner and enjoyed the sunshine! When we got home it was time to make dinner before the hubby came home from work. Today is a lazy day because we are going to be out a good majority of the day tomorrow.

Agenda for today

Today Cassie decided to wake up at 645! We have a playdate at 10:00, we have to leave at 9:00 to catch the bus there. After the playdaye we have to go to the store and pick up some pediasure and fruits and veggies along with probably lunch and hopefully we will be home by 12:30-1 so Cassie can finish her nap at home. I am hoping the weather is nice so that we dont get wet waiting for the bus.On a sie note, the activities page will probably be empty for a while as we will slowly buy some supplies for some projects and things for Cassie to do.

First Post!

I am writing this as the little lady sleeps. I am writing this blog mainly to showcase what a stay-at-home mom (SAHM) does and to help Moms get ideas for some activities to do with the little ones. A little about me and my family: I am currently 22 years old, my boyfriend is 23 and our daughter, Cassie, is almost 20 months old! I am a SAHM to Cassie. I love my life and I love being able to see my daughter grow and become her own person. Please bear with me as I learn the in's and out's of this blog.
